Costa Tropical
As you travel from Almeria towards the Costa del Sol you discover the Costa Tropical.
In the historic province of Granada the Costa Tropical lies between Motril and La Herradura, without doubt, here you will encounter of the most attractive coastal scenery within Andalucia.
Due to the physical nature of the coastline and the distance from major airports, the Costa Tropical has not been afflicted by the developments, which have enveloped the area to the west.
The Costa Tropical is particularly picturesque, less busy, and offers ample opportunities to avoid the crowds. Because variety of sea life and clear seawater, water sports and scuba diving are popular here and you will discover many fascinating coves and small harbours to make the most of this beautiful environment.
The sub-tropical climate has encouraged the cultivation of exotic fruits and crops such as avocadoes, mangoes and bananas and the Costa Tropical is probably the main producer.
The Climate
The Costa Tropical has its own microclimate, which is unique to Spain. The climate is not tropical but sub tropical, meaning that with sea breezes blowing in from the shoreline, the summer heat is cooled and there is none of the stifling humidity experienced in others areas at the peak of summer.
In winter the daytime temperature rarely drops below 15 degrees C, and in the summer months is usually around a pleasant 27 degrees C. Rain is a rare commodity in the summer months and you are unlucky to experience any between May and September. Even in the winter months when rain does fall, it is over quickly.
It is a most glorious climate that you become very accustomed to within a very short time and wonder why you have not been coming here on holiday more frequently or even moving here permanently.
